Day 10: Are there any roads that aren't being fixed?

Odo: 14222 day km: 538.8 trip km: 3240

Maryborough to Rockhampton via Ban Ban Springs and A3

The overriding memory today was of so many roadworks sections on the highway. One had us stopped for so long that I started joking about putting my bike on its centre stand and having a rest, and 5 or so minutes later literally doing just that. Tim has the picture on his camera so the photographic evidence will have to wait until later.

The morning was nice and relaxing. Check out the view from Tim's folks' balcony below! We headed off for Gayndah, the oldest town in Queensland, and on from there.

The mainlanders seem to have a thing for giant likenesses to things, especially fruit. We found a big orange. We also found a bridge and decided to take artsy photos. To cap off the artsy photos, I found a cool mural on a local convenience.

We finally made Rockhampton around 6ish which meant pitching tents in the dark again. I went for a swim in the pool (the water slide wasn't working dammit!) and then we went to the local pub / bistro for a nice counter-meal and a couple of drinks.

As we settle down at the end of the day, we can hear trains in the distance. I hope this doesn't continue all night. Tomorrow is the last travel day before the music festival.
