Day 11: Straight and true

Rockhampton to Calen

Today was the last travel day to get to my uncle and auntie's house for the music festival, and we decided to take the direct route up the Bruce highway. An inland detour would have added a bit too much to the day's trip.

The trip up the highway wasn't particularly exciting - pretty much straight travel all the way broken up by the odd roadworks and stop for fuel / refreshments.

We stopped around 30km south of Sarina for lunch, which is where I snapped the epic looking mud trials machine. I had a particularly tasty lamb and mint pie and soft drink while Tim had a sausage roll and coffee.

After lunch, we pretty much powered straight through to Calen, only stopping for fuel just shy of the turnoff.

On the way through Calen, we stopped and said hello to some of my relatives before arriving at Mike and Evelyn's place which is where we'll be staying during the festival.

We went for a wander down to the festival site for a sticky beak to see what the setup looked like. It looks awesome. The tent city looks so weird and out of place because there is normally nothing there. It looks like it is well set up and should be quite a relaxing and enjoyable few days.
